How to play Reaction Challenge

Read the aim of Reaction Challenge, then make your first move. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Look at what changes after your first action.

Practice with a purpose

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Notice the feedback after each input.

The goal to keep in mind

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Making your moves

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

The controls to know

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A closer look at one example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. A different version of the game may use a different rule. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
